Glass Repairs

How to tell if it is a repair or replacement windscreen?

A repair or replacement windscreen is determined by the type, size and position of the damage to the windscreen.  A chip in front of the driver (the critical vision area) needs to be smaller than 15mm across for it to be repairable.  If the chip is on the passenger’s side then it needs to be smaller that 30mm, generally.  These are provided as a guide and your Auto Glass Repairs technician will be able to confirm if they are able to repair or have to replace.

Is our vehicle safe to drive/use once it is cracked and before its repaired?

It should be, as long as the critical vision area in front of the driver isn’t compromised, although you should check with Auto Glass Repairs if you are unsure.

Does my windscreen camera need recalibration?

If your vehicle is fitted with a forward-facing camera on the windscreen it may need recalibration.  Auto Glass Repairs arranges for this to be completed by your vehicle Dealership.

What happens if the glass we need replacing isn’t in stock?

Autoglass Repairs understands how important it is for you to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible, we have a huge range of stock however in the unlikely event we don’t stock your screen or are unable to source it locally, we can source from overseas.

Where do you need the vehicle to be to carry out the repair?

The vehicle needs to be on firm flat ground for the repair to be carried out.  There also needs to be at least 3 metres clearance between the side of the vehicle and the next obstruction for the Auto Glass Repairs team to have space available for our lifting equipment or scaffolding.  There also needs to be clear vehicle access to that space.

What happens if it is raining?

If it is raining the vehicle needs to be undercover and preferably by dry for the repair to take place.
